AVIATION security experts have expressed concern after an investigation uncovered alleged flaws in airport security.
BBC Inside Out Yorkshire smuggled a bottle of water and a toolkit through security at Leeds Bradford Airport and Malaga airport, Spain.
The items were hidden under the seat of a wheelchair.
Aviation security expert Norman Shanks said: "My reaction is the staff were not doing their job as they’ve been trained."
Josh Gardner, 19, a wheelchair user who took the items onto the planes, said he was worried that a terrorist could hide a weapon in a wheelchair.
Leeds Bradford Airport said that it had met all regulatory requirements and the Civil Aviation Authority had taken no action in respect of this matter.
A spokesman said Mr Gardner’s wheelchair was swabbed for dangerous liquids and found to be negative.
"This is an additional measure implemented by Leeds Bradford Airport that is not required by UK national policy."
The presence of tools, as part of a wheelchair kit, is permitted under the regulations and "posed no threat to the travelling public."
