MOSAIC making, sign language and chicken keeping will be among the topics covered in a new season of community education courses in Otley.

Enrolment evenings for the classes at Prince Henry's Grammar School, which begin on Monday, September 21, will be held on Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Foreign languages - the school is a Specialist Language College - will feature prominently again, with eight languages, at all levels, covered over 29 courses.

There will also be a variety of hobby and lifestyle subjects, including creative textiles, basic astronomy, fly tying for fly fishing, and African drum and guitar playing lessons.

One of the new subjects this year will be Mosaics for Beginners, taught by mosaic artist Frances Taylor from Otley's The Big Hoo-Ha Co.

Programme Director Christopher Lillington said: "Our Community Education students have told us they love the relaxed learning atmosphere and the way they progress on our courses.

"There are no exams and students enjoy meeting new people while learning a new skill or language, or brushing up languages they once learned at school.

"They also enjoy being able to sign up for ten weeks at a time, rather than having to pay for a full 30 weeks at the start of the year."
