TALENTED musicians from Guiseley School played on the shores of Lake Garda during a trip to Northern Italy.

A total of 47 students took part in the music trip, performing in beautiful locations around the Lake and fitting in sight-seeing to Mantua, Verona and Venice.

The group included a folk band, soul band, brass group, wind band, sax and clarinet group, flute group, choir and pop group.

Curriculum leader for music Steven Jones said: "A memorable moment was when all these groups came together for a huge ensemble that rocked the crowds with their rendition of Valerie, Forget You and Mustang Sally to name but a few numbers. We played in some beautiful locations on Lake Garda, a piazza in Desenzano and then in Sirmione for a late night concert where the lake was almost lapping the stage."

Mr Jones said the final concert - part of a festival at the town of Casalmoro - was the highlight.

"The professional band that followed was so impressed with us they invited our singers to join them in several of their numbers whilst the rest of us danced the night away."

He added: "The students were a credit to themselves and the school impressing audiences everywhere they played. Their energy was incredible. To be surrounded by such engaging and talented musicians was a privilege. It was such a positive experience for all of us, I have already started making preliminary plans for the next Music Tour in 2017."
