STUDENTS from Leeds Trinity University are celebrating their second published book in a three part deal.

Prose and poetry from Creative Writing students at Leeds Trinity University feature in an anthology published by Indigo Dreams at the end of June.

MA Creative Writing students Lynn Bauman-Milner and John Gledhill are the proud co-editors of Inspiration: a Space for Words; a collection of poetry and prose from students and alumni of Leeds Trinity. It also includes pieces from guest authors who contribute at Wordspace, the University’s regular Open Mic night in Horsforth.

Bauman-Milner and Gledhill used the creation of the anthology as part of their MA assessment, giving them the experience of being both writers and editors.

Lynn Bauman-Milner said: "I jumped at the chance to be part of this because I knew that the hands-on experience of editing an anthology would be invaluable. Not only did it help me to learn how to read critically, but it allowed me to edit and improve a piece without losing the author’s tone of voice. It is definitely an excellent addition to my writing CV.

"Leeds Trinity University is well known for appointing staff who are leaders in their fields of excellence, so being able to learn from and be taught by a published author such as Oz Hardwick is inspirational. More so, my MA in Creative Writing has allowed me to find my niche in writing, along with the value of my skills. The course is everything that I could have hoped it to be and has given me the chance to work with world-class authors."

MA Creative Writing Programme Leader Oz Hardwick added: "This is a wonderful showcase for the range of writing that's produced at Leeds Trinity, both within our academic courses and through other events such as our annual Writers' Festival. There's poetry, prose, humour, horror - a really eclectic mix, with the one common factor being the excellence of the writing."

The university's MA in creative writing was launched in September 2013, and since then14 students have had their work published.
