STAFF at a Menston school cycled and rowed the equivalent of the distance from Menston to Milan in 24 hours in aid of Martin House Children's Hospice.

Five members of staff from St Mary’s Menston undertook a 24 hour fitness challenge early last month in aid of the hospice at Boston Spa, one of the school's charities.

Tom Hamill, Tom Pringle, Domenic Manfredi, Harry Leigh and Giles Wilkes each cycled 270km and rowed 10km in order to match the 1,400 km distance from 'Menston to Milan'. The challenge attracted enthusiastic fundraising across all year groups within the school.

The staff would like to offer heartfelt thanks to every student who contributed and came along to offer encouragement before school and during their break times, and to the members of the wider school community who contributed.

The team completed its challenge almost three hours ahead of schedule, which gave some brave students the opportunity to test their mettle on the bikes and rowing machine kindly donated for the day by Nuffield Health Club.

The current fundraising total stands at £3,530. Visit stmarysmenston.org/News/Pages/Menston-to-Milan-Cycling-Challenge.aspx for more information.
