FILM star and comedian Eddie Izzard caused a stir in the Pudsey constituency this week when he came to support Labour’s election candidate.

Eddie, who in 2009 completed 43 marathons in 51 days for Sport Relief, has appeared in films such as Oceans Twelve and the Chronicles of Narnia. The star chatted to people in the constituency as he gave his backing to Jamie Hanley.

The TV and film funnyman who is on a whistle-stop tour of General Election battlegrounds across the UK went to Asda at the Owlcotes Centre.

The stand-up star, Labour supporter and fundraiser, is on a gruelling campaign trail of his own which included his visit to Pudsey.

Mr Hanley said: “I have long admired Eddie and the immense challenge he took on for Sport Relief for incredible. I’m delighted to have his support and endorsement in my campaign to become our next MP.”
