A GROUP of Ilkley professionals says it is willing to work with parish councillors in a bid to find solutions for the town’s parking problems.

Former councillor, Howard Scaife, gave a presentation to Ilkley Parish Council at its meeting on Monday this week, telling how a small group of residents has studied parking issues, and would like help Ilkley Parish Council find answers.

The study found many people visiting the town centre stayed for about three hours.

And the group has identified small areas of land which could be used to provide some additional parking to alleviate the problem of congested on-street parking.

He also spoke in favour of extra commuter car parking being created, and told councillors of concerns about parking and the impact on the town centre and its amenities, with several local shops closing recently.

Mr Scaife said he would give more detailed information about the parking study to councillors after the forthcoming elections.
