A FAMILY history and newspaper archive is being made available to visitors to Rawdon Community Library in an innovative scheme.
Rawdon is the only library in Leeds which has access to the Find My Past website as part of a three week trial.
The archive, described as “an important source of historical information” will be available for access through the library computers until March 15. All census information from 1841 to 1911 is available, as well as details of births and deaths.
Clive Woods, member of the Rawdon Library Steering Group and chairman of Aireborough Civic Society, said: “This is a wonderful opportunity if you are trying to find out more about your family ancestors or perhaps the history of your house.
“I plan to find out more about the following Aireborough Victorians, as well as my own family.”
He added: “The National Newspaper Archive will also be available. Users will be able to access old newspaper archives.”
