A STEAM railway is holding a volunteering open day next month to give local people a chance to find out more about getting involved.
The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is holding a Volunteering Open Day on March 8.
The railway has vacancies to suit most people of all ages and backgrounds, although volunteers have to be over 16 to train for an operating role.
The event will start off at Bolton Abbey Station at 9.30am with introductions and a chance to look around the station, followed by a special train to Embsay leaving at 10.30am.
The prospective volunteers will be shown around the new workshop building at Embsay and meet representatives of the various departments, such as locomotive maintenance.
Following a break for lunch at Embsay, the special train will return to Bolton Abbey Station via Stoneacre Signal Box to give visitors the insight into the workings of the Signal and Telegraph Department, ending with a question and answer session at Bolton Abbey Station.
There is no charge, although anyone hoping to attend needs to let organisers know they are coming.
E-mail embsay.steam@btinternet.com or call (01756) 710614.
