A CRICKET club, which counts sporting legend Hedley Verity among its former players, is being given £10,000 funding for renovation.
Horsforth Hall Park, which celebrates its 125th anniversary this year, will use the money from local councillors to revamp its kitchens and replace its wooden scoreboard with an electronic one.
The club, which boasts senior and junior teams, was founded in 1890.
Horsforth’s three ward councillors pledged their support for the club.
Councillor Chris Townsley said: “It is wonderful that we can support such an important institution in Horsforth to improve its facilities.
“I am pleased their kitchen is going to get upgraded as the cricket teas are the jewel of every British match.”
The proposals were agreed by Leeds City Council’s Outer North West Community Committee.
