A POOL-IN-WHARFEDALE church’s repair and redecoration project has received a £900 boost.
The money, donated by ward councillors, is the final piece of funding St Wilfrid’s Church needs for the work.
Councillor Barry Anderson (Con, Adel and Wharfedale) said: “I’m pleased my colleagues and I were able to award this grant to St Wilfrid’s.
“They raised most of the money for this project themselves but just fell short of the total required, and we therefore stepped in to give them £900 from our MICE fund.
“St Wilfrid’s is a very active church in the community and looks after a number of people in Pool with regular activities and friendship.
“It is also a very prominent building in the landscape of the village and it is important its upkeep is supported by all who use it and care about it.
“I know the church committee work very hard all year round to ensure that they continue to provide comfortable facilities for everyone who worships there.”
