EDUCATION Secretary Nicky Morgan met teachers and pupils at a Horsforth primary school during a visit to the area.
Miss Morgan joined the area’s MP Stuart Andrew to see teachers in action at St Margaret’s Church of England Primary School.
The visit came after the Department for Education recently closed a consultation on teachers’ workload, and Mr Andrew and Miss Morgan were able to speak to teachers to get an in-depth view of how they feel the department can communicate with them effectively.
Mr Andrew said: “It is always a pleasure to visit St Margaret’s as it’s clear to see why it is an outstanding school, so I am pleased that the Secretary of State invited me to join her on a visit.
“We were able to see how dedicated the teachers are to the pupils and the enthusiasm that pupils have for the work they are doing. I was particularly impressed with the work coming from one of the classes on dinosaurs, and it is clear that the pupils really enjoy going to school.”
Miss Morgan added: “I was delighted to visit St Margaret’s Church of England Primary School last week. St Margaret’s is an outstanding local primary school and I am grateful to Stuart for organising the visit. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to meet the teachers and I really enjoyed observing some of the lessons in action.”
