PUPILS from Ghyll Royd School took a behind the scenes tour into aviation.

On a visit to Multiflight based at Leeds Bradford airport children from form 5 of the Burley-in-Wharfedale school were able to experience first hand the working of an aviation business.

Multiflight specialise in training pilots and servicing aircrafts including air ambulances. Pupils were given a guided tour into areas not normally open to the public to witness the servicing of a Jet2 passenger jet and air ambulance and the chance to sit in a helicopter cockpit.

Head teacher David Martin said: “We always seek opportunities to support and enhance the children’s learning. External visits provide insight into the wider world preparing them for life beyond school.

“Working closely with local businesses is key to Ghyll Royd and we are grateful to David Hood of Multiflight for allowing us such a unique tour.”
