LOCAL children’s entertainers the Silly Brothers will have the honour of lighting up Burley-in-Wharfedale for Christmas this weekend.

Thousands of visitors are expected to turn out to enjoy the entertainment in the village centre on Saturday, including a Christmas Market on Main Street with more than 30 stalls, plus fairground rides and slides in the park, steam traction rides courtesy of Jake Wright, a visit from Father Christmas with free lollies for all children and a Lego festival in Burley Methodist Church. There will also be a craft fair in the Queen’s Hall on Saturday afternoon.

The switch-on will feature local choirs including Shine, Burley Oaks and St Mary’s Children’s Choirs and Burley Village Community Choir. Reverend Alistair Kirk from St Mary’s Parish Church, will be performing the introduction.
