POLICE are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a Horsforth pub.

At about 11.10pm on Wednesday two masked men armed with what were believed to be handguns confronted staff at The Woodside pub in Low Lane, Horsforth.

They forced them to open the safe and stole a substantial amount of cash.

Detective Inspector John Dexter, of Leeds District CID, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the members of staff involved and we are conducting extensive enquiries to trace the men responsible.

"The area would have been busy at the time of the incident and I would like to hear from anyone who saw anything or who has any information that could assist the investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leeds District CID at Elland Road via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
