OTLEY is preparing to once more welcome some of biggest names in folk music.

The Black Sheep Brewery sponsored Otley Folk Festival 2014 will run from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21 and has attracted a typically eclectic line-up of acts.

They include BBC Radio's 2006 Yorkshire Songwriter of the Year, Anna Shannon, female a cappella group Grace Notes, acclaimed North Eastern acoustic songwriter Jez Lowe, and highly rated duo Chris Sherburn and Denny Bartley.

Festival favourites like the Duncan McFarlane Band, The Hall Brothers, Monkeys Fist, Dave Burland, and the Gerry McNeice Band will be returning and mingling with newer artists such as Otley trio Yan Tan Tether and NE3 Folk.

Organiser Steve Fairholme said he was looking forward to another busy three days featuring a "wonderful lineup", and is urging music lovers to "come and help us celebrate the 23rd Otley Folk Festival".

Other artists who will be performing include Patsy Matheson, Gilmore and Roberts, Dave Vermond, Lime Scurvy, The Creel, Gerry Cooper and Phil Snell, Les Barker, Judy Dunlop, Plumhall, Watchtone and Patsy Matheson.

The venues be spread across town and include several pubs, Korks Wine Bar, the Methodist Hall, Otley Cricket Club and Otley Rugby Club, and The Labour Club.

The festival campsite, meanwhile, will once again be at Knotford Nook, off Pool Road, and be opened from the Friday.
