8:21pm Thursday 17th July 2014 in Local news
A 'slave' auction in Otley has raised more than £200 for a premature baby charity.
The event, for Bliss, took place at The Otley Tavern on Sunday, July 6, and included live music, a raffle, and a tombola.
Local MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) also turned up to show his support.
Organiser Mel Metcalfe, and Otley resident renowned for her fundraising work, said: "Thank you to everyone who came and supported the Bliss charity event on Sunday.
"It was great to have the support of local residents and businesses, and our MP.
"Bliss is very close to my heart as they helped me and my family when my youngest daughter was born at just 28 weeks.
"Fiona and Peter Jackson at the Otley Tavern did a fantastic job hosting and helping organise the day - thanks to them, and to all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes."
Mr Mulholland added: "Thanks to everyone who came to support this fantastic event, and well done to everyone who helped organise the day.
"Bliss is a very worthy charity that helps premature babies and their families.
"Mel has done a wonderful job helping raise money for Bliss, and this was another successful event with fundraising stalls and live music."
Otley Tavern landlord Peter Jackson said the pub had been glad to host the auction. "Bliss is a wonderful charity that supports families in their time of need," he said.
"The donations are still coming in, but we look to have raised more than £200 for the cause."
