FIVE colleagues at a Yeadon company will brave ice pools, electrified fencing and underground tunnels to raise money for a children's hospice.

Yeadon based Schofield Insurance Brokers have entered a three man and two woman team to take part in the 2014 Tough Mudder Challenge on August 2 .

One of them, James Barker, 26, said they had decided to take part to raise money for charity.

"We support The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, so any money generated for the hospice helps towards such a terrific cause," he added.

The 13 mile obstacle course is designed to put contestants through physical hell - complete with ice pools, 12 foot climbing walls, electrified fencing and underground tunnels.

Twnety-one year old Amy Wilson said: "No amount of training can fully prepare us for what we have signed up for, it is going to be the most difficult thing I’ve ever put myself through, but a change in diet and plenty of exercise is a good way to start."

The oldest member of the group Schofield’s managing director Gary Holland, 50, said: "I want to prove a point to all the young whipper snappers in the group and show them that age doesn’t matter I can still keep up with the rest, even if I am getting on a bit."

Also taking part are Dean Fletcher, 35, and Rachel Spode, 33.

The team is aiming to raise more than £2,500. To donate visit Schofield’s website and follow the links.
