POOL pre-school group has been graded ‘good’ by Ofsted
The Ofsted inspector turned up without warning on April 30 much to the surprise of staff and children. However, they carried on as normal and the inspector observed activities throughout the day and spoke to staff, children and parents.
She looked at a selection of paperwork including children’s assessment records, planning documents, staff qualifications and suitability.
She also carried out a joint observation of an activity.
Statements in the final report include: "Children engage in a mixture of adult-led and child-initiated learning experiences"; "Teaching is good because staff have a clear understanding of how to support children’s learning" and "Safeguarding procedures are robust and staff remain vigilant".
The Pre-School manager Mrs Terri Morris said: "We are really pleased with the judgement especially as the criteria has changed since our last inspection and it is much harder to meet."
Pool Pre-School welcomes children from all surrounding areas and has vacancies for September 2014.
