Tickets for the top event at this August’s Ilkley Summer Festival are about to go on sale as the official programme is launched this week.

The month-long festival will see the return of favourites such as the Dolce Vita cabaret on The Grove, and this year, Take That 2 a tribute act will perform on The Grove in an afternoon of fun family entertainment.

These will take place on the weekend of August 16 and 17.

For the first time this year, a studio theatre will also be set up on The Grove, providing a venue for more musical performances.

The festival programme will be available this week from Ilkley Visitor Information Centre, Ilkley Town Hall and also on the festival website.

Tickets for the Dolce Vita cabaret are also expected to go on sale this week, and tickets for the Studio Theatre concerts are expected to go on sale shortly.

The Studio Theatre will be set up from August 22 to 24, showcasing four differing genres of music.

Themes include a folk trail, international day, and jazz.

The festival’s artistic and managing director, Councillor Anne Hawkesworth, said: “Programmes have arrived and some tickets will be released this weekend.

“We have kept old favourites but also, as usual, pulled something out of the hat. When the concept of the Studio Theatre was developing, a new group, The Hurricanes, sprung to mind for International Day – music from Memphis with traces of Johnnie Cash and Elvis but also fresh new original material is a snapshot description of these talented musicians.

She added: “Coincidentally Ilkley’s favourite, Dominic Halpin, happens to front the Hurricanes.”

The continental street market, Yorkshire Day celebrations, a concert of music from 1914, and the Last Night of the Proms concert are also among the events planned.
