A guide to biodiversity conservation and a walk in search of birds on the high moor are among events planned this month by the Friends of Ilkley Moor.

This Saturday, a guided family walk will look at the heritage of the moor and its many endangered animal and plant species.

It will take place from 2pm to 4pm, meeting at Darwin Gardens car park, Wells Road.

A guided walk the following day, from 9am to 11am, will go up to the Twelve Apostles stone circle, looking for moorland birds.

The walk is rated as moderate to strenuous. The meeting point is White Wells car park.

Improvements to footpaths are taking place on Tuesday May 13 and May 20, setting off from Darwin Gardens car park.

The Friends of Ilkley Moor project officer will lead a heritage walk on Sunday May 18, from 1pm to 3pm. The walk goes from the edge of the town to the high moor.

Booking is essential for all events.
