The 34th spring flower show and coffee morning of Addingham Allotments and Gardens Association was held in the village Memorial Hall on Saturday, April 12.

There were 23 classes, ranging from daffodils to photos of trees in blossom, and three classes for children.

Unfortunately entries for these classes were extremely low with very few exhibitors, but there were more than 100 entries from the children of the primary school featuring flower collages, decorated flower pots and drawings of ‘bird scarers’.

Judging of the main exhibits was performed by Peter Smith from Silsden, and the children’s entries by two of the committee, Christine Fisher and Jackie Carpenter.

The winner for ‘Best in Show’ was Jean Bull with a stunning Easter flower arrangement and the children’s class was won by Megan Thompson who had decorated a plant pot as a spring lamb.

The prizes were presented by the a association’s president, Bill Preston. Certificates for life membership were presented to Barbara Gell and Margaret Holmes, both of whom have served refreshments at all the shows for over 20 years.

The association’s annual flower and vegetable show will be held in Addingham Memorial Hall, Main Street, on Saturday, August 9, and organisers are hoping for a bumper show.

The coffee morning was well attended and the association would like to thank all the people who supported the event.
