Otley’s MP has welcomed the granting of nearly £950,000 to help repair local roads.

Leeds City Council is to receive £949,426 from the Government to fix potholes and other problems on its highways over the coming year.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer announced in his March budget that an additional £168 million – following on from confirmation of a £183.5 million grant earlier this year – would be made available to England’s local authorities.

MP Greg Mulholland (Lib Dem, Leeds North West) said: “This is excellent news that Leeds will be receiving such a significant amount of funding to tackle potholes on our roads.

“Potholes are a blight that can damage cars and disrupt journeys and hopefully this funding will help the Highways department at Leeds City Council make our roads safer.”
