Time is running out to enter a competition to sing live in Millennium Square and raise money for sick children.
The deadline for entries to the Voice of Yorkshire competition is Tuesday, April 1.
Anyone over 18 is invited to apply to the contest, which is part of the May’ke fundraising campaign, run by charity Bethany’s Smile.
Ten finalists will be chosen to record their songs professionally and to perform in Millennium Square on May 31 at the charity’s Celebration of Yorkshire event.
The month-long May’ke campaign, which is being launched by Horsforth schoolgirl Bethany Hare, 14, will raise money for children with chronic, terminal or life-threatening illnesses across the county.
Bethany, whose awards include Just Giving’s Young Fundraiser of the Year, Diana Princess of Wales Champion Fundraiser and Rotary of Great Britain and Ireland National Young Citizen, is hoping it will make a difference to the lives of sick children, The aim of May’ke is to help Bethany’s Smile raise its target of £300,000, which will go towards a purpose-built Smile Cottage, a holiday respite home in Yorkshire, where families can go and spend quality time and build happy memories when they are faced with the news that their child has a very short life expectanc.
The schoolgirl has been given the use of Millennium Square in Leeds for a fun-filled day of fund-raising events on May 31. Admission is free for all. Visit mayke.org for further details.
