Specially-designed posters celebrating the benefits of fair trade have gone on display in Otley.
The town’s primary school pupils created the posters, on show at the Otley Core Resource Centre this week and next, to promote Fairtrade Fortnight for Otley For Fairtrade and Economic Rights (Offer).
They will be judged by the Town Mayor, Councillor Pam Gill (Lab, Manor) and Town Council leader Councillor John Eveleigh (Lab, Ashfield) with the winning entry set to become the symbol of Otley’s Fairtrade Town status.
The Core is also being opened this Saturday morning so people can view the posters and sample some Fairtrade goods.
Coun Eveleigh, who chairs Offer, said: “Otley’s primary school children have really risen to the challenge.
“We are delighted that Otley has been successful in retaining Fairtrade status and the winning poster will become the recognised symbol of Otley’s Fairtrade Town status.
“Choosing a winner from this fantastic range of artwork is going to be a tough job, but I would like to thank all the children who participated.
“All have made a stand and made a statement that Otley believes that producers in developing countries should be paid fairly for their products.”
Offer is also looking into the possibility of displaying the winning Fairtrade design on the Welcome to Otley gateway signs.
