An Aireborough football club will hold an open day next week to explain its stadium improvement plans.

Guiseley AFC has received criticism from some quarters, including neighbouring Guiseley Cricket Club, over its proposals for Nethermoor Park.

But the club insists the scheme – which would create three new stands, additional turnstiles and toilets and catering facilities – is essential to its future and will also boost its community links.

Residents can view the plans, leave feedback and discuss any concerns with club officials at the stadium between noon and 4pm on Sunday.

In its publicity for the open day, the club says: “We want to improve the ground so that it is fit for our current level of support but also to develop our facilities so we can play an ever greater role in our town.

“While we believe the developments will benefit the whole of Guiseley, including the residents who live in the vicinity, we appreciate that our neighbours might have concerns.”

It also states that the new multi-purpose building the club is hoping to erect would provide accessible rooms and toilets for the disabled and could become the permanent base for Aireborough Voluntary Services for the Elderly Disabled.
