Work is under way to transform play facilities at an Aireborough Park.
Kirk Lane Park in Yeadon is undergoing a £118,000 facelift, with new play equipment and a multi-use games area.
The park, in conjunction with neighbouring Nunroyd Park, makes up one of the largest areas of public space in Leeds.
Unused tennis courts are being transformed into a multi-use games area, with new surfacing and a retractable metal tennis net.
The children’s equipment is being removed and replaced with six new fixed-play pieces, new benches, bins and a self-closing gate.
The site was visited by Guiseley councillor Pat Latty, who, along with fellow ward councillors Graham Latty and Paul Wadsworth, proposed that Council Wellbeing Money should be used to fund the improvements.
She said: “The work at the park is progressing at an impressive rate and I was delighted to visit the site and talk to the workers who are developing my vision for improved facilities and a safe and inclusive area for young people.
“The multi-use games area will be a great addition for our local community. Kirk Lane Park has been the poor relation for too long and I am really delighted to be able to bring along these much needed improvements.”
