An MP was given an impromptu acting lesson when he took to the stage during a visit to a drama group.
Stuart Andrew was persuaded to take part in rehearsals when he visited Guiseley Theatre to see the preparations for a forthcoming production of Oliver!
He was treated to a backstage tour before being invited to join in the opening scene of the Guiseley Amateur Operatic Society production. The Pudsey MP, who lives in Guiseley, made his stage debut as young cast members sang Food Glorious Food – before being greeted with the immortal words “Please Sir, I want more”.
Mr Andrew stayed for nearly two hours, taking the time to meet and chat with all the leading actors and watching most of the first half numbers, including Consider Yourself and Pick a Pocket.
Oliver! run’s at Guiseley Theatre from Monday, February 24 until Saturday, March 1.
The Saturday matinee is now sold out and the society says tickets for other evenings are selling quickly. Tickets are available from gaos.co.uk or the Box Office on (0113) 250 6434.
