A Horsforth-based university has launched its first-ever career mentoring scheme.

Leeds Trinity University has set up the scheme, in which more than 20 final-year Business and Management students will receive one-to-one guidance from alumni, as well as local professionals.

It has been instigated by Emma Roberts, associate principal lecturer in the Business, Management and Marketing department.

She said: “My main hope for the scheme is to support students in achieving the most important, but difficult, outcome that all degrees aim towards – a graduate level job. While Leeds Trinity provides plenty of support internally and offers professional work placements with every degree, the next step is to provide professional support that will help students complete the final transition from student to graduate.”

The scheme was officially launched at the end of January with a ‘Meet Your Mentor’ event on campus. Around 40 students and mentors were introduced to each other, and had a short, focused training session.
