A council has set up a website to help people who are considering providing services and facilities during the Tour de France this summer.

Anyone who wants to organise an event or provide facilities for the first two stages of the Grand Depart on July 5 and 6 is being urged to register their plans with Bradford Council. Registering details of events not only means those organising events in the Ilkley area can receive help and advice, but also helps the council with planning for the event.

The website – bradford.gov.uk/tourdefrance – features information for people who are considering running temporary campsites or car parks, having mobile or temporary catering facilities like pop-up cafes, or renting out their home as a temporary bed and breakfast.

An interactive map on the website is being regularly updated with details of events and facilities to help residents and visitors plan their weekend.

These include car parks, campsites, public toilets, events, attractions and train stations along the Bradford district Grand Depart route. For best results, select the option to ‘view Tour de France In Bradford District in a larger map’.

Over the next few months more information will be added, including information about how the route may affect residents, for example through road closures, so that disruption can be minimised and people can plan ahead.

There are already around 15 temporary campsites registered with the council and many restaurants and pubs along the route are organising events such as barbecues and parties.

Visit the website or e-mail tourdefrance@bradford.gov.uk for more information.
