A market-based picture framing business has been crowned the winner of Otley’s 2013 Good Service Award.
Wydale Framing, whose stall runs at Otley Market every Friday and Saturday, was chosen out of 34 nominated businesses for the Otley Chamber of Trade accolade.
The public had been asked at the end of last year to recommend the shops or businesses they had received exceptional service from, and then each one was visited by a ‘mystery shopper’ to identify the winner.
Competition organiser and chamber past president Trevor Backhouse said: “Congratulations to Wydale Framing for winning the Good Service award for 2013.
“We had a record amount of nominations for the 34 shops who were nominated for the exceptional service they offer.
“The judge was from Otley Rotary Club, and her comments were that every one she visited offered tip-top service, were so helpful and had a true understanding of their products and services.
“The nominated businesses all deserve recognition, it is just a shame we can’t offer every one of them an award.
“The chamber received hundreds of nomination forms, each containing a different reason or positive experience, and we would like to thank all those who took the time to fill one in.”
The nominated firms included everything from cafes to opticians and an equestrian centre.
The chamber resurrected its annual good service awards a few years ago as part of a multi-pronged strategy to boost local trading.
