The Secretary of State for Transport visited Horsforth on Monday to open the new office of the area’s MP.

Patrick McLoughlin took the time to look round the town during a visit to the constituency of Pudsey MP Stuart Andrew. He met with councillors, campaigners and supporters to hear about local issues and see improvements in the area.

During his visit he saw the start of work to ease congestion at the Thornbury Barracks Roundabout. Work is also planned at roundabouts in Horsforth and Rodley.

Mr McLoughlin said: “The MP for Pudsey, Stuart Andrew, has campaigned for many years to ease the bottleneck that is created at the roundabout, as well as the ones in Horsforth and Rodley, and it was fitting that he was there with me to witness what will result in a better journey for people.”

He added: “I was pleased to open the new office of Stuart Andrew and the Pudsey Conservative Association in Horsforth and then join people for lunch at the Horsforth Conservative Club who were extremely accommodating.”

Mr Andrew welcomed the fact that the government had approved funding to improve ‘pinch points’ on local roads.
