Calls for a new town in the North are being “ignored”, according to an Ilkley ward councillor. Councillor Anne Hawkesworth (Ind, Ilkley) says a leaked Government report only makes reference to the South, and does not take on board her suggestion of a new town in West Yorkshire, south of Bradford, which she suggested to planning minister Nick Boles last year. “It is clearly essential to be looking towards the semi- brownfield areas abutting the motorway on the boundaries of Bradford Leeds and Kirklees,” she said.
