A mystery shopper is visiting more than 30 Otley businesses this month to see which one offers truly outstanding service.
Otley Chamber of Trade has received customer nominations for 34 shops in the town for their latest Good Service Award.
Their ‘retail sleuth’ will be trying each of them, unannounced, during January in a search for those that go the extra mile to serve and help.
Resurrected a few years ago to boost trade and reward good practice, the last three awards have gone to opticians Lentoid, The Rumblin’ Tum Cafe, and BEKS Electrical.
Businesses being judged this time, who were nominated for their service during 2013, are: Acrecliffe Equestrian Centre; Bay Tree café; Bead Monster; BEKS Electrical; Bondgate Bakery; Buon Apps; Chevin Cycles; Corner House Kitchen; Cutting House; Geo Middlemiss; Gifted Angel; Gloucester’s café; Harriets; James Barber/Artamis; Jewel of India; Korks; Lentoid opticians; Mind charity shop; Nicole Bowden optician; Otley Pharmacy; Paint It hardware; Parkes & Co letting agent; Petwise; Pink Tea Pot café; The Rumblin’ Tum café; Shoe Craft; Simon & Becky fruit and veg market stall; Tabathas Trendz; Toymaster; Victoria Plum tea room; Waitrose; Weegemann’s; Winpenny Photography; and Wydale, picture framing market stall.
The winning business will receive a shield to display over the coming 12 months, while there will also be a £25 cash prize for the customer who has written the best nomination letter.
