Saturday saw the launch of shop local scheme Totally Locally Addingham, with a successful Christmas Market, accompanying a torchlight parade and the switch on the village Christmas lights.

Organisers say the weather was perfect and it certainly seemed like the whole village came out in support.

“It was unbelievable,” said Totally Locally organiser, Sarah Mayo.

“We could not have hoped for a better turnout, with hundreds packing into the market in The Swan car park and participating in the torchlight parade down to watch the switch on of the lights at the Christmas tree in the centre of the village. The atmosphere was incredible and a really fabulous way to start the festive period.”

A total of 24 Addingham-based stall holders packed into the car park, showcasing local products, including food and drink, arts and crafts, homeware, giftware, jewellery, make-up, clothing and accessories, books, cards and calendars.

In another first for the village, residents were asked to walk through the streets with it torches and glow sticks on their way to the switch-on of the Christmas lights at Sugar Hill.

The ceremony was performed by the Gala Queen with the Rev Jill Perrett of St Peter’s Church. The ceremony was also attended by Bradford Bulls players.

Totally Locally Addingham would like to thank everyone who came out in support and to all the people who helped in any way to make the event such a resounding success.
