Proposals to get iPads for all Key Stage 3 students at an Otley school will be discussed by Town Councillors next week.
Prince Henry’s Grammar School is proposing to buy the the tablets for all Year 7 to 9 students while parents make a £360 – spread over three years – ‘donation’.
The school is convinced the £10 a month initiative would improve learning and insists it won’t proceed without overwhelming support.
But some parents are concerned about the costs, the risk of their child being stigmatised if they opt out, and of being “pressured into” the move.
The town council’s Community Development Committee will debate the issue when it meets at 7pm, on Monday, December 9, at Otley Core Resource Centre.
