Land Girls memories are relived at Aireborough Historical Society talk
10:00am Tuesday 5th November 2013 in Local news
An insight into the lives of women in the land army will be given in an Aireborough Historical Society event.
Women’s Land Army re-enactor Carol Davies will dress the part for her talk in Guiseley on November 14.
Carol is basing the talk on the personal memories of her mum, who was in the land army, and on the memories of her friends.
She has tried to put together a synopsis of what life was really like for those young girls, many of whom came from industrial Northern Towns.
The women played a vital role in helping to provide Britain with food during the Second World War.
The event will include a display of many items which the Land Girls used on a daily basis.
The Women’s Land Army talk will take place at Guiseley Methodist Church, Orchard Way, Oxford Road. Doors open at 7pm and the talk starts at 7.30pm. Admission is £1 for members and £2 for none members.
