Help Horsforth charity win bank's £3,000 cash prize
9:00am Monday 4th November 2013 in Local news
A charity that helps older people to live in their own homes is asking for public support in a bid to win thousands of pounds.
Horsforth Live at Home is one of four charities in the running for a £3,000 prize – and it is asking people to vote for it so that it can help older residents by keeping their gardens neat and tidy.
The Live at Home scheme supports older people living in their own homes. It aims to help them stay independent, and the services the scheme also offers include lunch clubs, day trips, exercise and dancing classes.
Scheme manager Tracy Brierley said: “We are a charity at the heart of the community and we are over the moon that we are one of four charities nominated by Lloyds Fund to be in with a chance of a £3,000 Community Fund.
“If we were to win first prize we would put the money into our gardening scheme which provides a vital service to older people who can no longer physically manage the upkeep of their own garden. Not only does the gardening scheme help in keeping the community look nice, but it helps in crime prevention as older, vulnerable people are less likely to be victims of crime by would–be burglars when their gardens are tidy and safer to get around. Please vote for us.”
Supporters are asked to vote online at lloydsbank.com/ communityfund where they will be asked for their e-mail address. Votes must be confirmed by clicking on a link when the e-mail arrives.
To vote by text – text the word VOTE, leave a space, type CJSD then send to 61119. Only one vote is allowed per mobile number.
Or votes can be made at branches of Lloyds bank in Horsforth Town Street.
