As part of their learning challenge curriculum children in Form 1 and Form 2 at Ghyll Royd School in Burley-in-Wharfedale, had a very special visitor.
Mr Jim Horsley, grandfather to Bea Horsley in Form 2, came to school in his vintage Singer which he purchased back in 1958.
The children had a short ride in the car within the school grounds and were fascinated by the differences between the Singer and the cars of today, particularly the lack of seat belts and thinner tyres.
They also had a short questions and answers session with Mr Horsley to help them with their topic work.
Jo Jenkinson, head teacher said: “This is an excellent way to bring the children’s learning to life and encourage them to be active learners now and in the future.”
