Aireborough and Horsforth MP’s 'experiences' HS2 sounds
9:00am Sunday 3rd November 2013 in Local news
An MP wore earphones to experience the sound of the HS2 high speed trains for himself.
Stuart Andrew, the MP for Pudsey, Aireborough and Horsforth, tried out the headphones during the public HS2 consultation in Leeds.
The equipment allowed him to experience what the train would sound like to people living near the proposed routes.
Mr Andrew, who is a strong supporter of HS2, said that the faster routes and extra capacity would have a positive impact on business growth and employment opportunities the North of England.
He said: “In the next 20 years the existing links north and south of the country are expected to reach capacity and that poses a real threat in my view.
“We have to create a new line and we should use the latest technology, but it is right to make sure we consult widely so I welcome this exhibition.”
