A Conservative MP has welcomed figures from the Office of National Statistics which show that crime in the Yorkshire and Humber region has fallen.
The statistics show a seven per cent reduction in crime between June 2012 and June 2013.
Horsforth, Pudsey and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew said: “This shows that our determined efforts to assist police forces to drive down criminal activity in communities are really working.
“No-one should live in fear of being attacked, having their hard-earned possessions stolen or fear for the safety of their loved ones due to a small minority of people who believe they are above the law and, though I greatly welcome these figures, we intend to continue to ensure that the police, local authorities and communities have the power to make their communities a safe place.”
