CCTV funding for Otley and Yeadon
12:00pm Monday 14th October 2013 in Local news
CCTV cameras will continue to keep Otley and Yeadon’s streets safe thanks to an £18,305 funding boost.
The North West (Outer) Area Committee agreed this week to provide the money to cover part of the cost of monitoring and maintaining cameras in the main shopping areas of both towns.
The CCTV surveillance on Kirkgate, Manor Square, Boroughgate, Cross Green and Market Street will receive £11,863, while £6,442 will go towards the running of Yeadon High Street’s three cameras.
Committee member Councillor Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said: “CCTV not only acts as a deterrent for potential criminals, but it also helps police and other services to carry out their job more effectively, too.”
