2,600 switch to paperless TV licence
10:00am Tuesday 8th October 2013 in Local news
More than 2,600 television licence fee payers from Ilkley have given up their traditional paper licence in favour of an e-mail version.
TV Licensing says more than 4.2 million customers nationally have made the switch, including more than one million in the last financial year.
The organisation says the paper saved as a result of electronic communications accounts for around 1,600 trees across the UK.
A TV Licence is legally required to watch television programmes at the same time as they are shown on TV, whether on a computer, television, or via the internet on a tablet or smart phone.
