A surprise awaited a bride as she emerged from Ben Rhydding Methodist Church on Saturday.
Alice Foster, formerly Bastow, and her husband, Martyn Foster, were greeted with a salute from Brownies and ex-Brownies from the 2nd Ilkley Brownie Unit.
Mrs Foster was herself a Brownie, Guide and Venture Scout at the Ben Rhydding Scout and Guide Group, before progressing to become the leader of the Brownie Unit after returning to the area after her graduation from university.
Scouting and Guiding runs in the family. Her father, Pete, is Assistant Group Scout Leader, her mother, Patsy, a Guide leader at the same Group, and not to be left out, her brother, Richard, is a Scout Leader in Otley.
Alice married Martyn Foster, formerly from Burley and a member of Burley Lions Rugby League Club. A reception followed at the Winter Garden in Ilkley, before the couple left for a honeymoon in the Lake District.
