Councillor wants an end to 'eyesore' Otley business bins

A councillor is calling for a clampdown on “eyesore” commercial bins in Otley before the Tour de France Grand depart rolls into town next year.
Councillor Colin Campbell raised the issue of businesses’ bins being left out on pavements in the town centre at the September 11 meeting of Leeds City Council.
And he asked the authority’s executive member for the environment, Councillor Mark Dobson, to look into the matter to see if a harder line can be taken in dealing with firms who don’t deal properly with their rubbish.
Coun Campbell said: “With the highest profile cycling event in the world coming to our town next year it is important we start work now to clear up our streets and show Otley in the best possible light.
“I have called on the council to look at what more can be done to get commercial businesses to take better responsibility for the waste they create, and I have had assurances that further work will be carried out to find a resolution to this problem.”
