Wendy's appeal to donate a Christmas gift for a soldier
9:00am Sunday 15th September 2013 in Local news
The national charity Support Our Soldiers has launched its annual Christmas Parcel Appeal, this year it aims to send 12,500 welfare parcels to servicemen and woman on the frontline.
Bradford area co-ordinator Wendy McCann is once again spearheading the campaign for Bradford. She said: “The aim is that these parcels will be slightly different from the monthly care packages sent by SOS and contain more treat items to help the troops celebrate the festive period whilst they are overseas and separated from their families at this poignant time of year.
“We are always looking for individuals, companies, organisations or schools who wish to donate items or have a ‘parcel fillers collection box’ in their offices. Even the smallest donation makes a big difference to the morale of the troops serving in Afghanistan and other areas.”
Suggested parcel fillers include, chocolate, sweets, biscuits, crisps, nuts, chewing gum, cup-a-soup, coffee, toiletries, stationery and festive items.
