‘Have your say on £115m Bradford Council cuts’
10:00am Saturday 14th September 2013 in Local news
Bradford Council leader David Green has urged as many people as possible to have their say as the authority decides how it will cut spending by an estimated £115 million by 2016/17.
He says more than threequarters of that will have to be found in the next two years, with a need to find about £38 million in the 2014/15 financial year and about £50 million in 2015/16.
Coun Green has warned that the Council cannot continue to provide and commission all existing services and that councillors will have to make “very difficult decisions” about what to cut back or charge more for.
He said: “We are now at the stage where further cuts to services are inevitable, however unpalatable that may be. That’s why I am asking you to take part in an honest and open conversation about what Council services should look like, what’s most important and what’s less so given the massively reduced resources at our disposal.”
Copies of the consultation are available at libraries or Council contact points.
