Busy season is predicted after upturn in Wharfedale housing market
8:00am Wednesday 11th September 2013 in Local news
One of the busiest autumn selling seasons for some time is predicted by Ilkley-based estate agent Dacre, Son and Hartley.
Since the start of the year, the chain says it has seen activity increase significantly across its 20 offices throughout West and North Yorkshire, and all the signs suggest this will culminate in a busy autumn period.
Head of Dacres Residential Patrick McCutcheon said: “Economic news has improved greatly since the start of 2013 and this has definitely had a positive effect on the property market, which has mirrored this sentiment. Whilst the improvements were initially focussed on the sub-£500,000 bracket, there is clear evidence that activity is starting to improve in the upper middle sector too.
“As a result we currently have more homes sold subject to contract than at any time since spring 2010 and we have over 5,500 active buyers on our mailing list, which is the highest number for more than four years. These buyers are in addition to the tens of thousands who view our own and our partner websites.
“This positive trend looks set to continue as we head into the autumn period and we’re already receiving large numbers of enquiries from potential vendors.
“Autumn is always a very popular time in the housing market as lots of new stock is launched. It usually starts as soon as the school summer holidays finish and is often spurred on by people looking to move before Christmas.”
