Ilkley MP backs new campaign on prostate cancer

Ilkley MP Kris Hopkins
Ilkley MP Kris Hopkins is backing a Prostate Cancer UK initiative to help sufferers get the best possible care and support wherever they live.
The campaign follows a study which shows huge variations in the care that men with the condition receive across England.
And it reveals that treatment of the disease lags behind that of other common cancers in areas such as the availability of specialist nurses and the provision of information and support.
Prostate Cancer UK has produced a Quality Checklist to be used as a best practice guide for men and clinicians.
Mr Hopkins showed his support for the checklist at an event in Westminster.
He said: “Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, yet the quality of care can vary.
“It is incredibly important we do all we can to ensure all men with the disease get the care and support they need.”
