Nurse Steph is pipped at the post for national award

Airedale nurse Steph Lawrence has narrowly missed out on a coveted national award.
She was one of four nurses shortlisted for the Claire Rayner Patient’s Choice Award, organised by industry journal the Nursing Standard.
But at the awards ceremony on Tuesday night, at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Steph learned she had just failed to take the accolade.
However she said: “I feel like a winner anyway. The evening was truly inspiring and many of the stories brought tears to everyone’s eyes. I was just honoured to be a part of it.”
The collaborative care team leader at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust was nominated for the award by Julia Smith, of Oakworth, for the care given to her mother following a stroke.
“I would like to thank Julia and her family for putting my name forward,” added Steph.
